A rainy day in Vancouver did not stop us from having fun in Yaletown. I must admit, our friends at Urban Fare were very sporting to let us take our shoot into their store. We are especially excited to be able to travel to Eire with you and to photograph your big day. Stay tuned for photos from Ballyseed Castle…

Today we were back at one of our most favourite locations - Van Deusen Gardens. We were dodging the rain and trying to get a nice outdoorsy look and feel. Brendan and Misti were great fun and more than happy to play along. Some wonderful colours here today. We are looking forward to doing this again on your wedding day real soon.

Today was foggy. Yesterday was foggy. Tomorrow will be foggy. There has to be a way out, sunshine is up there somewhere. I only have to get high enough. In this case Cypress Mountain did the trick. Stella and I headed up and took this picture around midday at the first lookout point. A bit tricky shooting directly into the sun, but well worth the effort. To the left you can just make out Vancouver, and to the right, that patch of green is Stanley Park.

It Snowed ! But that did not dampen anyone’s spirits. We had an amazing day in Port Coquitlam and then in New Westminster for the reception. Congratulations Jaime & Fintan, you guys were so much fun. I felt really at home with all the English / Irish accents and humour. We are still amazed that Jaime was willing to wade through the snow in heels.

We are excited to be photographing Jaime & Fintan on New Year’s Eve. Let’s hope the weather is in their favour. Regardless I know we will have an awesome day. Here is a photo of their rings shot with a festive spirit in mind. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Today we headed to Stanley Park with Dan & Grace. We had a lot of fun dodging the rain, but were able to achieve the look we were chasing. It is so easy with couples like Dan & Grace. You guys are so much fun to hang out with and make our job very easy. It was hard to pick a photo from so many for our blog. But this one is one of my favourites. See you soon…

One of the biggest challenges when shooting a wedding is how to use flash effectively. We have many techniques. Here we see Stella shooting with her Canon Speedlight fitted with a Gary Fong Lightsphere. The Lightsphere has an amazing tendency to distribute light evenly ensuring a well balanced exposure. Note the dome in Stella’s hand (above right) . It is used to cap the flash in the absence of a low ceiling. Just one of our tools of the trade.
